Dart boards

Dart board for the homeDarts is a great game. Heading into a bar doesn't just mean that you get to drink with your friends – it also means you get a chance to take your turn at the dart board.  However, those bar bills can add up, so why aren't you bringing darts home with you?  That's what many more people are asking.  So, if you're ready to start looking for a way to spice up your at home entertaining, here are the ways to create your own bar scene.

Starting with the Space to play darts

Before you can add your own bar with darts to your home, you might want to look at the space that is available. For most people, the basement is the most logical choice to play darts in, but this isn't always an option when you have an apartment or townhouse, for example.  In any living arrangement, you simply need to have an area that is separate from the rest of the house.  This might be a guest room or corner that is not going to be disturbed easily.  Of course, some people decide that making their living room into the focal point of their entertaining is a good idea – and you might too.

Darts

First of all, you will want to clear out the space and create a place where people can sit or stand.  You might want to add a few bar stools around a taller table where people can linger, or you could place a nice large couch in this space, depending on the space you have available.  Others like to bring in chairs when they are necessary – this is especially helpful when you don't have a lot of available space.   Try to keep the are in the middle of this room clear so that you can put up the dartboard on the wall and then throw without getting in anyone's way.

Setting Up the Bar Area for darts

But what's a 'bar' without a bar?  You might want to add in a space for alcohol and other spirits too.  This doesn't have to be complicated, just a shelf with your favorite liquors can do the trick.  Adding in a shot glass and a shaker will help you and your friends get in the bartending mood.  You might also want to have an ice bucket or cooler nearby to add ice as needed.  The bar area can be extravagant if you like, but it can also start off small and slowly build up to something more.

Dartboard Time

Needless to say, you will want to add in a dartboard to this area, preferably on a wall where you won't have a lot of traffic walking by.  You will also want to look at various dartboards to see what will work with your decorating theme (if that matters) and with your budget.  You might want to buy a Halex electronic dartboard, though these can get slightly pricey for some people.  To help hide the evidence of a bar, a dartboard cabinet is a great way to close down at the end of the night – especially when the room is dual purpose.

Dartboards can be the beginnings of a fun place for you and your friends to hang out – but only if you take the time to plan out your perfect bar space.
